Dinner: dinner party with D&G

5 Oct

Last night we had dinner with our good friends Delane and Gavin, whom we make a point to eat with as often as our respective demanding schedules allow.  You see, in addition to being the parents of a budding one-year-old baby genius, they also happen to own our favorite pizza place in town, Dove Vivi. Understandably, this keeps them very busy. When an opportunity to create food magic together arises we divide and conquer, taking turns hosting and divvying up responsibilities between the couples. Delane almost always winds up making the salad and dessert courses because she is a whiz at throwing together simple and delicious dishes on the fly, and with minimal pantry goods. Evan and Gavin usually handle the alcohol portion of the meal, and I take whatever is left. Last night was no exception. Good times were had by all involved, with plenty of leftovers for cold meatball sandwiches in the morning. I am a firm believer in eating Italian food the next day; it’s almost always better.
